The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013)

The second installment of The Hunger Games trilogy based on the novel with the same name by Suzanne Collins is finally here. Before you went to theater you might have a high expectation towards this movie and so am I at the end all I could say is Damn It Was Good

When the first movie of the trilogy The Hunger Games hits theater literally everyone talks about it. Soon The Hunger Games became favorites not only for the fans of the book but anyone. After the big success of The Hunger Games has achieved, Lionsgate announced to make film adaptation of Catching Fire (released on November 22, 2013) and decided to split the last book of the trilogy into Mockingjay Part 1 (released on November 21, 2014)  and Mockingjay Part 2 (released on November 20, 2013).

In the previous film The Hunger Games, Katniss and Peeta survive the competition when it supposed to be only one person who can and it definitely did not make President Snow happy about it and since she won the games Katniss has become a hope for a lots of people.

When Katniss and Peeta thought the tour will be the end of their journey of The Hunger Games, oh no. President Snow have something in mind. Since it's the 75th of The Hunger Games and every 25 years they have a Quater Quell thing and now it's the 3rd Quartell Quell. What is Quartel Quell? Quarter Quell is when all the champion from the last 25 years from each districts being selected again to participate again on The Hunger Games (Oh boy you guys are in trouble). Of course this is President Snow plan after all with the new game maker helps, Plutarch Heavensbee (portrayed by Philip Seymour Hoffman).

Catching Fire has a better cinematography rather than The Hunger Games, it brings a better view of District 12. The screenplay was really incredible, the story pour some love, pain and drain your emotion. As a book-to-film adaptation, a lot of readers are saying Catching Fire is the most 'faithful adaptation' and Francis Lawrence bring it 100 percent to the screen. As a newcomer, Sam Claffin (as Finnick Odair) and Jena Malone (as Johanna Mason) gave us a strong character and yet intrigue. Did I already mention Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson ? Oh, they both AMAZING! Is there any word to describe them? And this year arena has a beautiful view and Hawaii as the place of shooting. Now let's count down to Mockingjay Part 1

  1. The first one still seems a bit better in my eyes, but this one still keeps the story moving along at a fine pace. Good review Yesiska.
